tour of california

Some people say that watching cycling is as exciting as watching paint dry (not a good analogy for me - I love watching paint dry) or grass grow (I feel that I should be more in tune with nature and take time to enjoy watching grass grow but its hard around our house as we are in the process of drought proofing it).
But the last stage of the Tour of California was actually edge of the seat drama: the top three locked together with barely a bee's dick separating them and a bunch off the front getting set to take the stage and the bonus points, the attacks were coming one after the other - Leipheimer blasting off the front only to be reeled in by the rest of the very elite bunch, no sooner back together than Zabriski is off his seat and going the charge. And they went at it again and again, pulling out every trick and ounce of power they had to shake the leader but he didn't falter; Mick Rogers just needed to hang in there, stay with those guys and it was his and he did it with poise and strength. And isn't it good to see an understated salute across the line - just one arm raised in victory, no me me me pointing the fingers or chest pounding. Nicely done Mick.
