looking up for a dingo's breakfast

Email to Andrew Williams chief astronomer at Perth observatory:

Hello Andrew,
I think this question may be one of a million you get but I can't see where else to direct it... sorry in advance!
I saw two bright lights travelling in an ENE direction over Busselton at 5:50 am monday 24th may - one trailing the other and moving quite rapidly. Perhaps 30 seconds from over head to 2 o'clock. they were above the clouds, appearing repeatedly in the gaps, too far apart to be a single aircraft and looking more like satelites. I'm wondering if they were the space station and the shuttle lit up bright just before dawn.
Any chance of that?
Best regards

Hi Roger, I'd say it probably was the Shuttle and ISS - I had a look on Heavens Above (http://www.heavens-above.com), and it shows the ISS as being visible at around 5:50am on the 24th - entering your exact latitude and longitude would give you a better estimate. The shuttle has just docked with the ISS recently, but seperate shuttle predictions aren't available on Heavens Above until it undocks again.

Andrew

nya nya nya I saw the space shuttle and the ISS in one go. How cool is that.
